The round begins from elevated ground with broad views across the front nine, then repeatedly moves between downhill drives, water carries and climbs to raised greens. Lies change with the valley’s slopes, while long green-to-tee transitions interrupt any steady walking rhythm. The front nine offers more visible landing areas; the back nine becomes more demanding through heavier bunkering, elevated approaches and increasingly severe green contours before the uphill finish.
Toscana Valley occupies a residential valley beside the Khao Yai National Park landscape, with wooded hills forming the outer horizon and Italian-inspired villas, stonework and terracotta buildings appearing throughout the property. The routing uses the natural rise and fall of the site rather than flattening it, so lakes, ridges and steep transitions shape both the views and the playing sequence. The setting is distinctive, but the residential spacing also creates long distances between some holes.
Bob McFarland’s design uses elevated tees, sharply sloping fairways, raised greens and deep bunkers to make position more important than raw distance. Water appears repeatedly from the opening nine onward, forcing players to decide whether to challenge carries or leave a longer approach. Several greens sit above the landing area and reject weak or poorly flighted shots, while pronounced contours make the correct approach angle valuable. The design’s greatest difficulty is cumulative: elevation, water and demanding greens continue rather than appearing only on isolated holes.
Use a tee that keeps the repeated water carries realistic; the official course range changes substantially between forward and back markers.
Prioritise visible fairway sections, because steep drop-offs and water turn marginal drives into difficult recovery shots.
Raised greens and deep bunkers reward approaches with enough height and distance control to hold the putting surface.
Use the caddie’s guidance on elevation and green contours, especially where slopes disguise the effective break.
Hole 8, par 3: The island green makes the target fully exposed, so distance control matters more than flag hunting.
Hole 12, par 4: From elevated tees, the hole drops across two water hazards before climbing to a raised green whose strong back-to-front and right-to-left slopes punish approaches above the hole.
Hole 15, par 4: A water carry from another elevated tee is followed by bunkers and pot bunkers protecting the raised green, making commitment from the tee essential.
Hole 18, par 5: The stroke-index-one dogleg finishes uphill past further water to a two-tier green beside the clubhouse, creating the course’s hardest closing test.

Toscana Valley is demanding because elevation changes, repeated water carries, raised greens, deep bunkers and pronounced putting-surface contours continue throughout the round. Forward tees reduce the total length, but accurate distance control and disciplined course management still matter.
Beginners can play from the forward tees, but this is not a forgiving first-course experience. Water, uneven ground and raised greens can make scoring difficult, so new golfers should treat the round as an experience and follow the caddie’s guidance.
The course’s current rate structure includes a caddie and golf cart, and Fairways of Eden arranges both with the tee-time request. Any exceptional operating rules, cart-driver restrictions or day-specific conditions will be confirmed with the final booking.
