A Traditional Layout Surrounded by Forests and Hills Just 40 Minutes from Chiang Mai
Royal Chiang Mai Golf Resort is one of the area’s most established courses, known for its peaceful countryside setting, cooler temperatures, and walkable layout. Designed by five-time British Open champion Peter Thomson, the course reflects a traditional, shotmaker’s design – with tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering, and a timeless feel that many modern layouts overlook.

Classic Design and Natural Beauty
Set in a beautiful valley north of Chiang Mai, Royal Chiang Mai isn’t about distance or modern flash – it’s about accuracy, rhythm, and enjoying your surroundings. Fairways are tight, doglegs are common, and bunkers are placed exactly where you don’t want them. The cooler air and tree-lined setting make it especially pleasant in the morning hours.
While not a championship brute, it’s a course that rewards smart golfers and patient play, especially around the fast, sloping greens.
Caddies are mandatory and always included, and golf carts are usually included in our packages. That said, Royal Chiang Mai is one of the few courses still very walkable if you’d prefer a slower, more traditional round.
Transfers are not included by default, but we can help arrange transport from Chiang Mai city or airport.
